Analytics Hub

The BCN Biobank strives to honour donations made by patients by ensuring that every specimen is used to its fullest potential. To support this, the Biobank has implemented a data sharing policy that ensures that information generated from its specimens can be accessed and re-used by the wider research community beyond the scope of the project from which it was originally generated, resulting in benefits for researchers and patients.

The Analytics Hub provides a portal where researchers can explore, query, and analyse data generated from BCNB specimens alongside data from large-scale, publicly available projects. This integrated environment enables the linking of datasets and can be used by researchers throughout their projects: early-stage hypothesis development and feasibility assessments, and the execution of dynamic and complex analyses, such as examining spatial and temporal patterns, through to validation. Researchers can build upon previous findings, reduce duplication of effort, and contribute to the replacement, reduction, and refinement (3Rs) of patient exposure to ineffective or harmful treatments.

By combining data across multiple studies, the Analytics Hub also offers methodological and computational advantages. The increased sample size enhances statistical power and enables more refined patient stratification. This is particularly valuable when investigating rare subtypes, outcomes, or exposures.
